18 Mar Current News, AGM & Expenditure
It is planned to hold the AGM in April 2026.
It is important for members to attend the AGM as important items are discussed for the future of the GWS.
Items such as the cost of water and improvements are discussed and voted on.
Another motion that as voted and carried at last year’s AGM was in relation to the collection of un-paid debts. The motion reads that “Any member who refuses to pay for water received either commercial or above the free allowance limit will be contacted 4 times and if still no payment made will have to attend a meeting of the Finance Committee of the GWS to explain their reasons for non-payment”. If no valued reason is given the member, then may have their supply disconnected or reduced.
A reconnection fee applies if the supply has to be restored.
One m3 of water at present costs €1 and water connections are €2,000 + Road License Charges.
The new office cost €27,000 approx. The cost of the Office will pay for itself over 4 years as no rent charges.
A new works Van & Trailer were purchased in 2025 for €32,000 which is necessary for the upkeep of the Scheme. A new open building will be installed to house the Generator and Trailer.
As mentioned previously we have received €2,000,000 in grants for projects from the Government.
The GWS depend on the payments from the members and the subsidies from the Government through the Local Authority to maintain the upkeep of the scheme.
AS our accounts are audited yearly any member can request a copy of the audited accounts by contacting the Manager.
We lost a great committee member in 2024 the Late Jimmy Magner. He had a great knowledge of the scheme and attended every meeting and AGM and always added to the discussions. Rest in Peace Jim.
