MULTI ANNUAL RURAL WATER PROGRAM

MULTI ANNUAL RURAL WATER PROGRAM

The MARWP is the funding system by which the Government finance Capital Projects for Group Water Scheme’s. The GWS will design a necessary program of works and submit it to the Local Authority who in conjunction with the National Federation of GWS’s will make the final submission to the Department. Each project is then accessed, and the Department will make a final decision on the validity of the project.

To date West Limerick GWS have received almost 2 million euro through the MARWP to which we are very thankful for as it has enabled the Scheme to do a lot of necessary works.

Without the MARWP funding the GWS sector would find it difficult to get any improvements done.

When the works in Killeedy area are complete in 2026 West Limerick GWS will have installed 13.4km of new main both extra and replacement.

The MARWP has also made available funding for Fencing of our Pump Stations and Reservoirs.

2 Reservoirs in Granagh were fenced in the new in 2025 as was part of Cappagh, Shanahan’s Well and Kantoher Farm Pumpstation.

Funding was also made available for extra loggers and bulk meters.
