27 Aug West Limerick GWS Quality Assurance.
West Limerick GWS recently installed 2 new Chlorine Monitors on the Scheme. First is located in Ballykenny on the Killeedy part of the Scheme and the 2nd is located in Ballycannon, Croagh on the old rd. We have now extended this number to 6. The extra units are fitted in Cappagh and Granagh. The units in Cappagh are located at Cappagh Reservoir and in Ballingrane. In Granagh the units are located at the Creamery Site and in Coolruss. We have recently purchased 2 further units and will be fitting these shortly. A new unit has been installed in Ballyduhig, Kilcoora in the Killeedy area and waiting on ESB for connection. The units constantly monitor the level of Chlorine on the Scheme. These are fitted at the end of the lines. Chlorine has to be kept at a requested value on the schemes by the Local Authority. The information from the Monitors is also on our Scada System and alarms are relayed to the users if levels drop. These are checked on a weekly by visiting the plants and daily on the Scada System.
These monitors were very expensive to install but give great awareness to the scheme regarding Quality and Assurance.
The Chlorine is checked weekly on all sections of the GWS network and all levels recorded.
We hope to add 2 units per year to the Scheme.
A new UV system was added to both plants in Killeedy in 2020.
